Crystal Entertainment & Filmworks sues Exposé

Wednesday, December 26, 2007

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, so I waited until after the holidays to send this message out. I was going to keep this private, but I've had a few people who found out on their own and I'd have to say something, and I cleared it with Gioia to see if it was okay to mention it. It would be kind of strange for me not to say something if it's found easily from a Google search.

Exposé is being sued by Crystal Entertainment & Filmworks. You can read the details here.

http://www.dailybusinessreview.com/news.html?news_id=46008

The lawsuit names Ann, Jeanette, Gioia, along with Kelly, and wants to shut down their ability to use the name as well as the exposeonline.net site and the exposeonline MySpace page, as well as violation of contract, etc. CE&F is the company that was formed after Pantera Group Enterprises shut down, (partners Lewis Martinee and Ismael Garcia split, Ismael forming Crystal Entertainment & Filmworks, though I have no confirmation if he is the current owner of that company) and they say they own the rights to the name. Apparently, there is some dispute over whether CE&F really has the rights to the Exposé Trademark, or whether they have any right to claim it for live performances.

Complicating matters is Lewis Martinee is apparently making his own bid for the Trademark. I'm not sure whether he would be an ally to Ann, Jeanette, and Gioia but a post on one of those Freestyle forums made me worry, although this seems to be more one guy's opinion than anything official from Lewis.

I would ask all of you not to ask Ann, Jeanette, Gioia, or Kelly to comment on this. It's the holiday season, so they are busy with their families, and they will likely only comment on the lawsuit through press releases or through their attorneys. (I am NOT in any way "officially" connected, so nothing I say on my site here should be considered representing any official word from Exposé unless I specifically indicate that).

I'll have more to say at a later date.

Vote for Kelly's Projects

Wednesday, December 26, 2007

I mentioned this below, but I wanted to keep this on the top of the page for a few weeks, to help Kelly out. (For the latest news scroll down).

Kelly Moneymaker has worked and produced two tracks that are up for awards at the Independent Music Awards site. The site can be found here.

http://www.musiciansatlas.com/pages/IMAFinalist/

You need to register on the site before you vote (Just need to give them an e-mail address and a password).

Her two projects are under the Film/TV category. They are

2 Clicks Down, That's What Dreams R Made Of
From: American Pie: The Naked Mile

Silver Money, Justified
From: Die Hard 4 Trailer

The first one is more alt-rock, the second sounds hip-hop. You can definately hear Kelly's vocals on both these tracks.

If you can vote for these projects and give them high marks, it would be really helpful for Kelly. She's been working hard with Silvermoney and winning these awards would be really good.

Vote for Gioia and Exposé at DivaDivoDance.com
Plus, Kelly Moneymaker Christmas Songs

Diva Divo Dance

The DivaDivo web site is having a couple of interesting end-of-the-year polls.

First up, on their Home Page, there is currently a poll asking what was the best news affecting dance music in 2007, and one of the options is the reuniting of Exposé. So, if you'd like to put in your vote, feel free!

Secondly, there is a vote for Diva of the Year. There are 12 candidates, 1 for each month of the year. Since Gioia was the Diva of November, she's up for voting. You have to e-mail them to vote for her, so I would suggest visiting the site, follow their instructuons, and put your vote in for Gioia.

Shifting Gears, if you visit Kelly Moneymaker's MySpace page, you will find that she has put up two Christmas Tracks for us to listen to while the Holidays are happening.

Happy Holidays!

YouTube Clips from Voodoo Lounge

Monday, December 3, 2007

We have a few videos now from the Voodoo Lounge. Cell Phone Quality, of course.

Actually, let's embed the one for PONR.

YouTube Clips from Orlando, and some cool stuff you might have missed

Monday, November 19th, 2007

We have a few videos from the Epcot Center on YouTube from Exposé's appearence there.

Also, a few weeks ago, I just noticed some great new videos on the Exposé MySpace page that I didn't know about. Two of the coolest videos I'll link below.

  • Snippets from The Milwaukee Live Show (and the Supper Club). This was the first concert I attended and I loved it.
  • Exposé in 1993 on Regis and Kathy Lee. I was so glad to watch this since I didn't find out about their appearance until after it aired. It was on April Fool's Day. (I also got a job offer that was cancelled the same day, what a bad April Fool's Day).

Two new Gioia Interviews, Clip from Mohegan Sun

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

Gioia's been all over the place. There are two new interviews with her.

  • Interview for Bay Windows. (This is mostly the same interview as the Diva Divo article, however there are differences).
  • Interview with Gay Wired.

Finally, the Diva Divo people, in addition to posting the article about Gioia below, also gave us a blog entry. Embedded below is a 20-second YouTube video clip from the Sunday performance from Mohegan Sun. (It's sideways, so tilt your head).

New Gioia Interview, G in Hollywood, and a Happy Birthday to Jeanette

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

A very new interview with Gioia is now up at Diva Divo.

Gioia is also apparently hobnobing with some members of Hollywood tonight.

Finally, a happy 42nd Birthday to Jeanette Jurado. She is life, the universe, and everything today. (If you don't get the reference, feel free to look it up).

Sorry for the last-minute notice but I'll be performing live tonight at:

Gioia Club Date this Sunday
and Vote for Kelly and Silvermoney

Friday, November 9, 2007

First, Gioia is making a special appearance in Hollywood, the day after her appearance with Exposé at a private event in CA. Details can be found below.

Firing up the house, Gioia will be making a special appearance this Sunday, November 11th during Tom Whitman's "SIZE" event at West Hollywood's Here Lounge. When Gioia takes the stage, she'll perform her new chart-busting single "Your Love is Lifting Me (Higher and Higher)." In addition, Gioia will debut "Shelter is Heaven," a new single from her forthcoming album, which she is working on with internationally renowned lyricist/poet Jimmy D. Robinson and Emilio Estefan's brilliant composer Bruno Linares.

Proving unstoppable, time after time, Gioia is pioneering yet a new musical journey in collaboration with the prolific songwriter Jimmy D. Robinson. Composer Bruno Linares stunningly sets to music Robinson's remarkable poems and lyrics, which convey an inspirational message of hope. The new upcoming album promises to be a remarkable and beautiful piece of woven lyrical and melodic tapestry. The first single completed, "Shelter is Heaven," emanates from Robinson's "People are People" book, which will be included in The 50th Annual Grammy Awards gift bags. Several Here Lounge guests will be fortunate enough to walk away with one of Robinson's critically acclaimed "People are People" hardbacks, to be given away Sunday night. Gioia is overjoyed with anticipation to share her brand new sound with West Hollywood's finest.

Gioia Bruno is scheduled to perform at 8:00pm. Here Lounge is located at 696 N. Robertson Blvd. in West Hollywood. For more information on Here Lounge and "SIZE" please visit http://www.herelounge.com or http://www.tomwhitmanpresents.com.

Secondly, Kelly Moneymaker has a few songs up for the Indie Artists Voting. From Kelly's Blog Entry

Call for Support from Gioia, other news

Thursday, October 25, 2007

Gioia sent out this request for the fans.

There are some great things happening in the press right now for me and I would love your support. On top of the Star Magazine coverage in this week's issue, Entertainment Weekly has posted a blog on my new single "Your Love is Lifting Me (Higher and Higher)" and my American Idol aspirations. So that we can continue the momentum and win the support of Entertainment Weekly and other media, I am asking everyone to please help support me on this campaign. Please visit: http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2007/10/press-release-o.html and post a comment urging Entertainment Weekly to please continue to support my campaign to win the American Idol judge seat as well as an Expose night. And, if you love the new single, please let them know that too!

I appreciate all of the support and love from all of you.

Much love,

Gioia
xoxo

And one of Gioia's friends, Breezy, made a nice banner.

In other news...

  • Exposé (via Gioia) sent out a message reminding those that haven't joined the official Exposé mailing list that they can do so by singing up at this link.
  • Gioia's new single is out and can be purchased at either PerfectBeat or Amazon
  • The AI stuff is heating up--apparently some radio DJs have been talking about it.

News about Gioia and Idol makes EW

Monday, October 22, 2007

The info about Gioia has made Entertainment Weekly's Popwatch Blog. So far, that and the appearance in Star Magazine seems to be the most mainstream press yet. They have a place for fans to comment, so I would suggest showing your support to Gioia on that blog.

There's also another blog, The BEAT BLOG, with a post complementing Gioia

Gioia Item Reported in Star Magazine

Thursday, October 18, 2007

The News About Gioia as a possible replacement for Paula Abdul has reached this week's Star Magazine

Are Paula's Idol Days Numbered? Probably not, but that hasn't stopped Gioia Bruno, the one time singer in the hot 1980's pop-trio Expoé from pressing for a judge's seat! "I am not saying Paula is on her way out or that they are adding a fourth judge, but Gioia wants a judge's seat", her publicist Jim Strzalkozski tells Star. "Let's just say nobody has told us no yet"...

More News regarding Gioia...

Monday, October 8, 2007

There's another article from Geno's world about Gioia and Amercian Idol.

And now, there's another Video from Gioia—another teaser for higher.

New sneak peak at "Higher"

A quick interview with Gioia about the American Idol talk.

Sunday, October 7, 2007

Geno the blogger actually interviewed Gioia about these American Idol rumors. The blog entry has been reproduced below.

From the Geno's World Blog

EXCLUSIVE: Interview with Expose's Gioia. She dishes on American Idol, Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Clive Davis and Perez Hilton!!

There's a huge buzz in the air of Hollywood these days. The buzz's name is Gioia!! I found Gioia to be direct, sweet and brimming with amazing confidence. The singer's profile will be increased tremendously with her new solo release, her meeting with entertainment moguls and her possible addition to the "American Idol" judging ranks. I had the pleasure of speaking with her just a couple of hours ago......

Geno: Hi Gioia, it's a pleasure and an honor to speak with you today. I love your new single "Your Love is Lifting Me (Higher and Higher)." What an incredible remake. Why did you choose this song to cover?

Gioia: Hi Geno, the pleasure is all mine. I chose the song because it feels like it was written for me. Writing is a funny thing; sometime I'll write something that sounds like rhianna or even celine. Songs that I'd love to be singing myself but I just have to buck up and deal with the fact that every song is not for every singer. " Your love is lifting me higher and higher" is for me.

Geno: There has been a lot of noise going on about the music video you just wrapped shooting for the song. Sounds like you made a major motion picture. Can you give us a little more info on the concept?

Gioia: Girl gets boy, girl loses boy, girl gets.... Girl? That's all you get Geno, mystery daaling...

Geno: I saw you on PerezHilton.com last week. How did this come about and what's your impression of Hollywood's most hated celebrity blogger?

Gioia: We were in vegas doing a show at the Oleans arena. Jim our publicist made a call. When Perez heard we were in town he invited us out, pretty simple huh? How do I feel about him? Well... I don't really know him very well. He was extremely gracious to us and very clearly an expose' fan. I honestly felt a sort of sadness about him; something in his eyes.

Geno: Alright, let's talk American Idol. It seems like everyone is talking about the possibility of you joining American Idol next season and replacing Paula Abdul. What is going on with all of this?

Gioia: Sound's like you know more than I do. Honestly, I just can't comment on this. It could be uncomfortable for some of the people involved. I'm very sorry.

Geno: I've heard that you are meeting with Clive Davis and other entertainment moguls to make a deal with American Idol happen as well as support your comeback. Have any of these meetings happened yet? Can you reveal any latest developments?

Gioia: Wow! You don't kid around!! Again, I really can't comment. Yes, some of these meetings have taken place, but it's really too soon to discuss.

Geno: Why do you want to be on the show?

Gioia: Why wouldn't I? I've been a singer songwriter for most of my life. I love this industry and I'm tired of listening to mediocre artists. Everyone deserves a chance, Idol has been monumental in changing the 'it's who you know' theory. Any one can audition any one can make it to the top, provided they can walk the walk. No lipsyncing here.

Geno: Are you and Paula friendly with one another?

Gioia: We've met a couple of times. I suppose in hollywood that would be a marriage. But no real relationship here. Yes I suppose it was friendly.

Geno: What do you think of Simon Cowell? Will you two get along?

Gioia: I don't think about Simon Cowell, should I?

Geno: When you take a judge panel seat next season, what can we expect to hear from your criticisms and feedback on the contestants?

Gioia: Ha! Trick question. You're a sneak! If i were to be a judge it would be my duty to give constructive criticism. I've got a gift, I can be honest without being a total bitch. I think that's important. People respect honesty! If someone needs work they need work, that's life. It makes us who we are. Trust me, I know about work.

Geno: When is the new full-length solo CD coming out?

Gioia: It's in the works, no definite date. I can tell you that the songs are written. I've just got to get all the players in order.

Geno: What else is in the works for Gioia?

Gioia: I'm working with Jimmy D. Robinson, he's the Grammy poet. We'll be recording next month. I've just been presented with a movie proposal, it would be the story of my life... It's all very exciting but a little strange to grasp for me right now. I've been through quite a bit, but am I really ready to spill it? I suppose it'll all be seen soon enough. Hell! You'll probably know before I do!

Geno: Gioia, thank you so much for talking with us today!

Gioia: You're very welcome, it's been really fun! Kisses!

Teaser from Gioia's upcoming single!

Friday, October 5th, 2007

Gioia just added a new blog entry today, and she has released a teaser video for Higher. This is more of a clips from the video shoot than the actual video, and this appears to be part of the extended mix (not the main part of the song, but the extended part of a 12" single.

Link to the Video Teaser

Gioia in the running for American Idol??? Plus, her new site.

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

There's a rumour going around that Gioia might be in the running to replace Paula Abdul on American Idol.

Gino's World

And apparently, Gioia's Site Revamp has been completed!

Miscellaneous Exposé and Kelly updates

Friday, September 28th, 2007

  • Kelly's released a new blog entry, detailing her upcoming projects, a rock project called Silvermoney, and she's working on the production of Jacked-up Betties, an all girl project she is co-producing. Some NBC eco-awareness ads are also being filmed at her home.
  • Apparently, famous blogger Perez Hilton got to hang out with Exposé at a private party they did after their appearance in Las Vegas.

Finally, a new video from their Arena appearance in Las Vegas singing Point of No Return

A few more tidbits about Gioia.

Updated Show List.

Friday, September 21st, 2007

Exposé just added several shows! I am including the latest list, leaving out the few not open to the general public

More Exposé Shows, and news about Gioia's upcoming music video.

Thursday, September 13, 2007

Okay, a few important things to tell people.

Gioia has been recording her new video in Fort Lauderdale at the Voodoo Lounge. You can read up on some blog entries of people writing it. An actress named Cristy Joy gives it a little plug, as well as Gioia's friend Breezy.

More importantly, if you are in the South Florida area on Tuesday, they are filming a scene outdoors, a line to get into a club for the video. If you would like to be in the video as an (unpaid) extra, Fandango Pictures (the video company producing/directing the video) need people dressed in clothes that you'd wear to a popular nightclub, and they need as many extras as possible, so bring your friends if you are available. Gioia will be filming her scenes outside. (Please note that this isn't a concert or anything like that, she's not performing, it's a video shoot). The filming will take place at 7:45PM on Tuesday August 18th, at 111 SW 2nd Ave Fort Lauderdale FL.

Finally, there have been a few new Exposé shows not added yet to the official site. I can confirm that the Voodoo Lounge will be having an Exposé show on December 1st, and there's apparently a show scheduled on October 26th at the Wetbar in Atlanta GA. I don't know more details yet, but I'm sure it will be added to the official site soon.

New Podcast Interview with Gioia

Saturday, September 8, 2007

There's a new audio interview that Gioia did with International Artists Debut Radio. You can listen to the podcast here. (Note, there's a quick interview with another person for the first 5 minutes.)

Gioia Recording Music Video for Higher, New Album in October

Wednesday, September 5, 2007

Gioia has been extremely busy. She has been working on a music video this week for her new single, which is being released on Harlequin Records this October. The video is of her remake of Your Love is Lifting me Higher. It is being produced by Ramiro Hernandez of Fandango Films, is supposed to be an "edgy, concept video", and will also be contain in-video appearances by DJ Tracy Young (one of the remixers), model/actor Scott Jenkins and fashion designer Jimmy Starr in a cameo role

Remixers for this single will include: Tracy Young, Almighty, Klubjumpers, DJ Dean Chronic with Dozia and DJ Dena Cucci.

Additionally, apparently she is working on a new album, so we should likely see that sometime next year. She plans to continue to tour with Exposé.

As a bonus, here is a clip just released to YouTube, not of the produced video but of her performing at something called "The Black Party".

A few more Photo Albums

Sunday, August 12, 2007

Here are a few more photo albums from the Net.

Gioia's Latest Personal Projects

Friday, August 10, 2007

To summarize, she's working on new music, and will release a new dance single, a cover of "Your Love Is Lifting Me Higher." It will be out as an EP on September from Harlequin Records, and will feature remixes from Josh Harris, Lewis Martinee', Almighty, The Perry Twins and DJ Dean Chronic.

News Article Featuring Exposé

Monday, July 30, 2007

The Baltimore Sun has an interesting article about band reunions, and a few paragraphs talk about Exposé, with some nice Jeanette Jurado quotes. The Full Article talks about the Police, Van Hallen, and a few other bands. But the part refering to Exposé appears below.

Relationships that weathered the trials of adolescence can strain under the tension of performing. Reunion tours have been a crucible for acrimony between Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, who have given performances in which they've barely acknowledged each other.

But take the lesson of Expose, the multi-platinum '80s dance-pop trio whose hits included "Let Me Be the One" and "Point of No Return."

The original members—Ann Curless, Gioia Bruno and Jeanette Jurado—reunited last year. They had disbanded in 1996 after a dark period of infighting, disputes with producers and the disgrace of being dropped from their label, Arista Records.

"There's a lot of water under the bridge now, as they say," says Jurado, who sang lead on Expose's biggest hit, 1988's "Seasons Change." Since the band's split, she has lived quietly in Nevada with her husband and two children, ages 5 and 7.

"I think now we understand that being in a group is a lot like a marriage. We all have different personalities. It's hard work to keep it going.

"But you do it all for the music. When you hit the stage, that chemistry you have with each other, it makes it work. You have to want to make it work."

YouTube Clip from Tampa

Sunday, July 22, 2007

A short YouTube Clip from Tampa's show (Season's Change) is on-line now.

The clip is "cell-phone quality". I can't tell if any sound was added post-production. It looks like there was some song synchronization problems, it seems like a cue was missed, but they get back on track quickly.

More YouTube Videos from Palmdale

Wednesday, July 18, 2007

Only one more video today, but it's a great one and I'll embed this one, the full Let Me Be The One from Palmdale.

Gioia's in great form here. Thanks to KIM for posting this!

More YouTube Videos from Palmdale

Wednesday, July 18, 2007

These are cell phone quality—as the user admits says they aren't very good, but they have at semi-decent audio from the show of songs not covered by our other recorders. If you haven't been to the page in a while, scroll down to see the better videos.

Updates from the Blogosphere

But, I decided to not wait for my Blog software and I decided to post the Kelly Moneymaker Interview! Enjoy!

A Cute Mini-Interview/Video

Friday, July 13, 2007

I found a very cute interview done by comedian Maria Gomez with Exposé. This clip was pretty entertaining. I loved the pregnacy talk, the little backstage banter, and especially them hanging out in an A&W fast food joint.

I am working on getting interviews with Kelly Moneymaker and Jeanette Jurado, it's just a matter of co-ordinating schedules.

  • Madison Square Garden, NYC, NY; April 27 (or 28), 2007: This should be the same type of show as above. Confirmed, 20 minute track set.
  • UCF Arena, Orlando, FL; May 12, 2007: This should be the same type of show as above. Confirmed, 20 minute track set.
  • Parliment House (Gay Days Event), Orlando, FL; June 3, 2007: This is an all-gay resort with some nightclubs, and I don't know much about the event, so I don't know what type of show they'd do, or if it's an event with other acts on the bill. Confirmed, 30 minute set.
  • Marie Kerr Park, Palmdale, CA; July 14, 2007: I'm not sure what type of show this would be. Confirmed, Full Band Show!

It is still very early in the year, so I believe several more concerts will be worked out. But don't miss a chance to see them either.

Neat Exposé YouTube Clips

Saturday, January 6, 2007

Exposé's New Year's Eve appearance at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington was recorded by "MadPat", and here's a taste of what you'll get to see in the coming months.

Also, the remix video of Point of No Return is also up on YouTube at the following link

If you've never seen Jeanette Jurado's appearance in My Family singing Angel Baby, here it is, thanks to YouTube.

Holiday Update

Saturday, December 23, 2006

Kelly Moneymaker has posted a new original Holiday song recorded from a live performance she did. Please checkout her MySpace page for more details. She also posted a blog update on her own site stating (since replaced with a note about the holiday song) that she hung around during Exposé's band practice and got to know Gioia a little bit.

Another wonderful writeup of the Exposé Milwaukee show can be found here. I'm so glad many people enjoyed that concert. Let's hope the Tacoma show goes well as well.

Rich has been working very hard on their Website and Official MySpace pages. If you haven't joined the mailing list, please do so. They sent out a little newsletter for the holidays. I'm so happy they have great tools now to actually communicate with the fans.

I'm pretty busy with work and life stuff, but I am making a major update to this site and will be working on making this a blog-driven site rather than the manual process I use nowadays to do updates--y'know, RSS, linkrolls, comments, all that wonderful stuff. I'm sort of embarrased at the FAQ not being updated for six years, I will fix that ASAP--boy, a LOT has changed. Most of the updated information can be found on Wikipedia nowadays. I'm actually glad things exist now such as MySpace and Wikipedia because they take the pressure off of me once being virtually the only source of Exposé information on the Internet.

Happy Holidays, everybody!

Promotions and Other Updates

Saturday, December 9, 2006

Gioia just posted new stuff on her MySpace page. There are a couple of songs from her own library (unreleased), as well as a couple of new photos. The songs are kind of sad but kind of fit the theme of "December". Also, there are some new concert pictures up on the official site, this time showcasing their autograph session with the fans.

I am planning to do my own write-up of the Milwaukee concert, but I am pretty busy right now and it might not be completed for a month or two. In the meantime, I would strongly suggest looking at some of the MySpace fan reviews. The one that sort of summed things up best for me was Scott's Blog Entry on the subject.

PS--We need Exposé to do some Holiday tunes, darn it!

Exposé will also be appearing at the Joint in the Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas. This is with a live band but a shorter set, they are part of a showcase of acts. If you are in the area, please check it out! You can order tickets at Ticketmaster

Jeanette Jurado has updated her MySpace Blog with an entry about the Milwaukee show.

Finally, I just wanted to say I saw the Milwaukee show. It was great! I hope 2007 brings Exposé continued success in touring.

First of Old Audio Interviews

Sunday, November 12, 2006

I've decided to start converting several of my old taped radio interviews with Exposé. With all the craziness of YouTube, people have forgotten about radio.

So, here's the first one. It's an interview Exposé did in the Spring of 1993 in South Carolina, on a radio station called 95QQ, I believe. This is in MP3 format--zipped up so people won't "stream it".

A quick Video and a new Interview

First off, Gioia has a new Interview up on the site AfterEllen.com.

Second, below enjoy a quick snippet of the Miami appearance.

Mass Updates (Cause of an accidental erasure!)

Monday, October 16, 2006

Okay, being the idiot I am I accidentally erased all my 2006 updates! So, since I can't re-create everything from memory, I'm posting the most relevant stuff here:

  • The Second Part of the Gioia interview has been completed.
  • Exposé is back together and going on tour. For more information, please check out this Press Release from PR Web, and listen to the Podcast.
  • Exposé now has MySpace pages. Gioia, Jeanette, Ann, and Kelly all have pages on MySpace, and right now it's the best way to find out more Expoé information.
  • There are Wikipedia Entries for Exposé, and all the Members (Gioia, Jeanette, Ann, and Kelly). Feel free to add relevant information.

I am moving towards blogging software, it's just taking time. (Mostly 'cause I do web stuff for a living and can get burnt out at the end of the day, especially with a long commute). More updates later this week as I re-create my posts.

Gioia's Web Site

Saturday, August 13th, 2006

Gioia's new web site is up. It's at www.gioiabruno.com, as well as the other domains.

I apologize for the lack of updates. Lot's of busy things happening behind the scenes. I am also working to get the second part of Gioia's interview up. Gioia's been extremely busy lately. I hope to have it ASAP.

Jeanette and Kelly and Days of Our Lives

Saturday, February 12th, 2005

Kelly has posted updates to her web site and fan club, and a new CD of love songs is now available for sale. Kelly Moneymaker co-wrote all of the songs, singing a few of them, while Jeanette Jurado does lead vocals on The Shadow of Love. There is a CD release party on June 5th, 2005.

Kelly Moneymaker also served as background vocalist to Diana Ross during the Tsunami Aid Benefit on NBC a few weeks back.

New Site Design

Saturday, February 12th, 2005

I have begun implementing a new site design for the Epistle. This will be a work in progress for the next few weeks. If possible, e-mail me and let me know what you think.

Gioia Interview

Friday, November 26, 2004

Sorry for the lack of updates lately.

Gioia Bruno has granted me an interview, and have have posted the first part of it on-line. View it here.

Album Release and Site Update.

Friday, July 16th, 2004

The Album has been released, and Gioia's site is up.

Not much news to report after that. ;-)

Except for one...I've listed to the album a few times already and I have yet to hear anything that would probably require the explicit lyrics sticker, so if anybody's holding off on purchasing the album because of the sticker, I can confidently say you will not be subjected to a bunch of profanity.

Gioia's New Album Release.

Monday, June 21st, 2004
Updated: Wednesday, June 23rd, 2004

Lot's of news regarding Gioia.

Gioia's new album from Koch Records will be out on July 13th. More information can be found on the Koch Website:
http://www.kochdistribution.com/catalog/infopage.aspx?number=KOC-CD-8698

The album is also available for pre-order at Amazon.com
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00029J1ZY/

Earlier this week I listed some tracks, but Gioia has confirmed that the track list is not accurate as things have changed last minute. Also, the title is confirmed as "Expose This" and not "From the Inside"

Finally, I erased the appearance list on my site as Gioia's new web site has more up-to-date information.

Kelly News--Fan Club, Nominations, and Latest Apperances.

Thursday, April 22, 2004

Kelly Moneymaker has started an official fan club at her site. Orders are being taken now ($18.00 per year in the US, $22.00 elsewhere), and you can find out more information at
http://midnitesunrecords.com/%7Ekelly/index.html.

The song Can't Live Without Your Love has been nominated for AC40 Single of the Year in New Music Weekly. The awards will be presented on June 26th in Los Angeles.

Finally, she has a few appearances. Tonight, she will be appearing at The Egyptian Theatre (6712 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, CA--Between Los Palmas & McCadden Ave. next to Pig & Whistle), in a concert benefiting the environment. Then, on Thursday the 29th of April at Tangier Restaurant in the Los Angeles area, Kelly will be performing. More information can be found here:
http://www.tangierrestaurant.net/calendar.php

New Web Site For Gioia, old site shut down.

Sunday, April 11, 2004

I apologize for the delay in this update.

Gioia's web site has moved. Gioia has registered the domain www.gioiabruno.net, and new designers are setting up a brand new web site for her. I would expect the web site to be completed in a few weeks to a few months. In the meantime, I will be providing updates from Gioia's official management in the near future such as tour schedules if they deem it necessary.

Ownership of the old site is apparently in dispute. After management requested the offical site be placed in other's hands, Gioia's old webmaster has claimed ownership of the site and domain, and that's why you see a "for sale" site on the old gioiabruno.com, and no information about Gioia's new site.

Blast from Ann's Past

Tuesday, August 5th, 2003

Found this interesting link. When Ann was in High School, she was a member of the Miami Beach Rock Ensemble. Well, apparently a history of the Group can be found at the following link:
http://www.rockensemble.com/timeline/1980_1981.htm
You can see a few photos of her as she looked in 1981, along at lease with one shot of Eve Nelson, a friend of Ann's.

Confusion About Another Show

Monday, August 4th, 2003

There is a scheduled performance on August 17th, 2003 at the Ibiza club in L.A., California at the Ibiza club. There has been some confusion in the promotion, but to the best of my knowledge, this is an appearance by Gioia Bruno of Exposé, and not the full Exposé group. Apparently the advertising is mistaken.

Reports on the Show

Monday, August 4th, 2003

I want to sum up reports on the show for everybody, based on several comments made by message board and e-mail list members.

  • Exposé did 2 shows, one during daylight the other when it was dark. They spent 1/2 hour after the first show signing autographs, and a full hour after the second show. Fashions were subdued greys during the 1st set, and bright reds during the second set.
  • Exposé had a live band, musicians Jeanette was friends with, including members of Safe-Sax, the Band Jeanette now sings for in Las Vegas.
  • Security allowed still cameras, but did not allow videotape to be run at the concert or during autographs. One security guard was reported as saying that they didn't want the footage to end up on VH1. (Though who knows why, although it is known that Jeanette refused to do Where Are They Now? for some reason.)
  • Reportedly Exposé was nervous for the first show, but got more comfortable during the second show. Most people liked the outfits for the second show better.
  • During the show, Kelly mentioned Gioia's name, which caused some cheers from the crowd, and said Kelly had "big shoes to fill" and that she was lucky she "had big feet". Audience gave applause when Ann said she was doing a good job.
  • At One Point Jeanette forgot the words to I'll Never Get Over You Getting Over Me.
  • The set for these shows were are follows:
    • Come Go With Me - Jeanette
    • What You Don't Know - Kelly
    • I Wish The Phone Would Ring - Jeanette
    • I'll Never Get Over You (Getting Over Me) - Jeanette
    • Angel - Ann
    • Tell Me Why - Kelly
    • Exposed To Love - Ann
    • (Ballad Melody)
      • End of the World - Kelly, Jeanette and Ann
      • Your Baby Never Looked Good in Blue - Jeanette
      • As Long As I Can Dream - Ann
      • When I Looked At Him - Jeanette
    • I Specialize In Love - Kelly, Jeanette and Ann
    • Let Me Be The One - Kelly
    • Seasons Change - Jeanette
    • (Encore) Point Of No Return - Jeanette
  • List member Leo G. Divingracia III took digital pictures. To save him bandwidth, I will place them here. These are huge files, each about 300K, and there are 18.5 MB total--Zipping doesn't help with these. Some of these are poor quality mistakes, but most are good. Feel free to browse and download them from here.
    http://www.expose-epistle.org/aug01-show/
I will format these--shrinking them for better viewing over the course of the next few weeks.

Open Welcome to Ann and Jeanette

Friday, August 1st, 2003

Ann and Jeanette, it's great to see you guys coming back into the spotlight again. While we've kept abreast of Gioia and Kelly via their web sites, we haven't heard much from your end until now. I'm really looking forward to you guys touring around the country.

Please, if you feel up to it, contact me and I can perhaps write a good interview for the readers, let us know what you've been up to. At the very least, have your management company send this site touring information so all the fans can keep up-to-date on your apperances.

Getting an Official Web Site, or CyberSquatting?

Friday, August 1st, 2003

It looks like Exposé is getting ready to create their own web site. While the name Expose.com is currently in use by what looks like a stripper or something, the names for AnnCurless.com and JeanetteJurado.com have apparently been registered, apparently to some design studio in Southern California. Now this could be a legitimate agent of theirs, but it could also be somebody just grabbing the name for exploitation. The pages those sites seem to be advertising, rather than legit web sites. But it could just be a standard page created by the registar.

A few quick corrections

Friday, August 1st, 2003

A few corrections to previous news items.

  • KHDC radio, to the best of my knowledge, is not a Spanish station, but a dance music one.
  • There's still some speculation about the rights to the actual Exposé--do they own it or do they just have a license for it? Apparently, according to Rich, Gioia Bruno was the only member of Exposé who could use the name in advertising. But that might not exclude them purchasing the name.

Status of Exposé

Tuesday, July 29th, 2003

Jeanette Jurado was interviewed today on KHDC radio. I did not hear the recording personally (and it might have been in Spanish, since it appears that is a Spanish/Latin station), but the following facts were reveiled to us on Gioia's web board by the DJ who interviewed them:

  • Ann Curless, Jeanette Jurado, and Kelly Moneymaker now own the rights to the Exposé name
  • There are currently no plans to record new albums
  • Jeanette wants to rotate the line-up with Gioia and Kelly and see how the chemistry works out. However, Gioia and Kelly will rotate, and will not appear together. I assume this is to keep the three part harmony, and/or to give equal singing time to the group (Kelly never had her own lead songs, so she would normally sing Gioia's songs, and thus I can see how it would be redundant if they had to share a lineup).

So, no record producer or label owns them now, and they can control their own destinies.

Miscellaneous Update

Sunday, July 27th, 2003

There's been some speculation regarding the group right now. Some people have reported that Thump records, the label that released the Greatest Dance Mixes collection of Exposé tunes, was thinking of putting out a new album. Rich, Gioia's "Webwizard", has confirmed that Gioia has talked to Jeanette Jurado recently, and that she knows that Exposé will be trying out some shows at different places across the country to get their feet wet again. There was no word about her joining the fun, but based on the fact that there was a conversation, it's possible, likely depending on what Gioia's solo gigs require, etc.

I also wish to apologize for jumping the gun and suggesting that Exposé might have snubbed Gioia--I wasn't, I was just expressing disappointment if they had done that. I was reacting to Rich's initial comments, and I've always been a little concerned in the past regarding Exposé maintaining ties with Gioia.

Kelly Moneymaker Site Update

Sunday, July 27th, 2003

Kelly Moneymaker talks about the Exposé show on August 1st on her website. She hints that it might actually be for more than one show, and it would seem they are balancing their solo efforts with these potential gigs.

Gioia signs with Koch Entertainment, is not appearing with Exposé

Wednesday, July 9th, 2003

Rich, Gioia's "Webwizard", has just announced to the Exposé Epistle mailing list, that Gioia Bruno has been signed to the KOCH Entertainment Music label, as the premier act for their new dance music division. An official press release should be released in a few days, most likely at http://www.kochentertainment.com/ and/or at http://www.gioiabruno.com/.

We also found out Gioia was not invited to the reunion. The Southeast Asia tour was cancelled for other reasons, and she had not heard back from the others at all regarding this reunion. (It would be a shame if they snubbed her, since I am sure the fans would want her to participate in a reunion concert, although Gioia's priorities are on her solo career.)

A single will be released in July, with a full album in August. I'll provide information when we have it.

Exposé Returns

Tuesday, July 8th, 2003

After a 10-year absence from Touring, Exposé will do at least one live show in 2003. Information is just being released on this.

Three of the core members of Exposé will be making an appearance at the California Mid-State Fair. ( http://www.midstatefair.com/ ) This lineup includes Ann Curless, Jeanette Jurado, and Kelly Moneymaker. They will be appearing at the fair on August 1st at 7PM and 9PM, on the Chumash Casino/Budweiser Fort Frontier Stage. More information can be found at the link above.

Right now, little else on this event is known. A few people have been digging up information. It's unknown whether Gioia Bruno will be appearing as well--she was supposedly going to be absent for a SouthEast Asia tour, but that has recently been cancelled just as this news was coming to light. One correspondent stated that Gioia would have been invited if she wasn't touring.
